Ordering and designing

How do I order a custom card shirt, hoodie or mug?

Search for any Magic card on the store page, pick the printing and art you like, then choose a garment, color and size. Check the preview, add it to your cart and check out. You can add up to 20 designs to one cart, and up to 10 of the same design.

Is the preview what will actually print?

Yes. The preview shows the card at the same position, size and proportions that are sent to print, on photos of the real garments. Hover over the preview (or tap it on a phone) to zoom in. Colors on screens vary a little, and garment-dyed and heathered fabrics vary from batch to batch, so your item may look slightly different from the photo.

Can I choose a specific printing or artwork?

Yes. After you search, a list called "Printing and art" shows every printing of that card with its artist. Pick the one you like. Double-faced cards can print their other face on the back.

What does the "Print on the back" option do?

On tees, the long sleeve and the hoodie, the back prints the classic Magic card back by default. Double-faced cards print their other face instead. You can turn it off for a blank back.

How does the pocket tee work?

A real pocket is only about 3 by 2 inches, too small for a card, so the pocket carries the Equip Cost Zero logo and your card prints large on the back.

How is the mug printed?

The card prints at its real size, 2.5 by 3.5 inches, twice: once on each side of the mug that faces a right-handed or a left-handed person holding the handle. The 11 oz white glossy ceramic mug is dishwasher and microwave safe.

Can I change my order after I pay?

Production starts quickly, often right after payment, so we usually can't change an order. If you need to change an address or cancel, email us right away with your order number. If it hasn't gone into production yet, we'll cancel it and refund you in full. See Shipping and Returns.

Art and print quality

What does "Art only" print?

It prints just the card's illustration, without the frame or text, with a small credit to the artist ("Illus. Name") underneath on the right. It's available on every product. Double-faced cards print only their front illustration in this mode.

Why does fine text on the card look soft?

Magic card images are fairly small files, about 745 by 1040 pixels, and a shirt print is much bigger than a real card. The art and colors look great, but tiny text can look softer on fabric than on a screen. Mugs print at the real card size, so they're sharper. Our card art printing guide explains what to expect and how to pick cards that look best.

What about full-art, borderless and showcase cards?

On these printings the title bar or text box is drawn over the artwork. In art-only mode we use the clean artwork from an ordinary printing of the same illustration when one exists. Otherwise we print the cleanest part of the card, between the title bar and the text box, and the page tells you so. The preview shows exactly what will print.

Are the cards or artwork licensed?

Magic: The Gathering is a trademark of Wizards of the Coast LLC, and each card's artwork belongs to its artist. Equip Cost Zero is an independent shop, not affiliated with or endorsed by Wizards of the Coast. Card images come from Scryfall.

Sizing and products

How do the garments fit?

All styles are unisex. The Bella + Canvas tee and long sleeve fit closest to the body, while the Comfort Colors tees and the Gildan hoodie are roomier. If you're between sizes, we suggest sizing up.

What are the garments made of?

Each order is printed on blanks from established brands: Bella + Canvas 3001 and 3501 (soft, lightweight cotton), Comfort Colors 1717 and the pocket tee (heavyweight, garment-dyed cotton) and Gildan 18500 (heavy blend fleece hoodie). The store page has the details under "Where do the garments come from?".

How do I wash my shirt, hoodie or mug?

Wash shirts and hoodies inside out in cold water, dry on low or hang, and don't iron directly on the print. See the care guide.

Shipping and tracking

How much is shipping and how long does it take?

Shipping is free on every order to addresses in the United States. We don't ship internationally yet. Printing takes about 2–5 business days and then your order ships. Most orders arrive within about 1–2 weeks of ordering. These are estimates, and delivery can take longer during holidays, bad weather or carrier delays.

How do I track my order?

Sign in to My orders with the Google account that uses the email address you ordered with. You'll see your order's progress and, once it ships, a tracking link. Tracking appears as soon as the carrier has it.

Why did my items arrive in separate packages?

Items in one order are printed and packed separately, so they may ship and arrive on different days. Each one is tracked in My orders.

I entered the wrong address. What do I do?

Email us right away with your order number and the correct address. If the order hasn't gone into production, we can fix it. If a package comes back because of a wrong or incomplete address, we'll contact you to reship it, and a reshipping fee may apply.

Payment and account

Is checkout secure?

Yes. Payment runs on Stripe's secure checkout. Your card number goes straight to Stripe and never reaches us. We don't store your payment details.

Do I need an account to order?

No. You can check out as a guest with your email address, and a receipt is sent to that email. An email is required so we can send your receipt and order updates.

How does "My orders" sign-in work?

You sign in with Google, which only confirms your email address. We never see your Google password and we don't keep a separate list of accounts: your orders are found by the email address you used at checkout. If you ordered with a different email, sign in with that Google account instead. Signing in before you check out fills in your email and ties the order to your history.

What does the charge on my statement look like?

It appears as EQUIPFORZERO.COM.

How is my information used?

Problems and returns

My order arrived damaged, misprinted or wrong. What do I do?

We'll make it right. Email [email protected] within 30 days of delivery with the email you ordered with, your order number, clear photos of the problem (the whole item plus a close-up) and a short description. After we confirm the problem, we'll send a free replacement or a full refund, whichever you prefer. You don't need to send the item back.

Can I return an item for the wrong size or a change of mind?

Every item is printed just for you, so we can't accept returns or exchanges for a different size, color or card, or for a change of mind. Please check your choices in the cart before you pay, and see the fit notes above if you're between sizes.

My package is lost or hasn't arrived.

Check the tracking in My orders first. If it's well past the estimated delivery date, email us within 30 days of that date with your order number and we'll replace it or refund you.

How long do refunds take?

Approved refunds go back to your original payment method right away on our side. Your bank may take several business days to show the credit.

What isn't considered a defect?

Small color differences, minor placement differences (a print sitting slightly higher, lower or to one side), softer fine detail than on a screen, and normal wear or damage from washing against the care instructions.

I want to dispute a charge. What should I do first?

Please contact us first. We reply within 3 business days, and fixing a problem directly is faster for you than a bank dispute.
